The CEC represents Palestine in the Arab World in a workshop on “Elections & Technology”

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) participated in a workshop organized by The League of Arab States and the United Nations about the use of technology in elections. Representatives of Election Management Bodies (EMBs) from 18 Arab countries participated in this workshop.

Directors of both the IT department, Mr. Suhail Hammad, and the PR department, Mr. Fareed Taamallah, represented CEC-Palestine in this virtual workshop.

Over the course of 2 days, the workshops discussed the uses of technology in elections, employing it in Registration, the ability to maintain confidentiality and security of information, and the latest technology used in Polling Day, Vote Count and Verification. The impact of technology on voter education and awareness was also discussed during this workshop, as well as ways to face fake news on social media networks.

During the workshop on “Exchanging experiences among participating countries and the mechanisms of using technology to increase the efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism of the Electoral Administrations”, the representatives of Palestine presented the ways CEC employs technology in its work, including electronic voter registration (remotely), and the use of social media platforms in Voter Education Campaigns.
