Chairman of Central Elections Commission (CEC), Dr. Hanna Nasir, met today with a German delegation headed by Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, Dr. Tobias Lindner, accompanied by his Head of Office Mr. Wenke Dagyab, along with the Head of the German Representative Office in Ramallah, Mr. Oliver Owcza, with the presence of CEC Public Relations Director, Fareed Taamallah.
In the meeting, which was held at the commission’s headquarters in Al-Bireh, Dr. Nasir welcomed the delegation, praising the German role in particular and the European role in general in supporting the work of the CEC, pointing to the long-term partnership between the commission and the European Union (EU). Moreover, Nasir referred to the commission’s work during the last two years, preparing for the General Elections before it was postponed, and completing the Local Elections in two phases. He also reiterated his call to European countries, led by Germany, to pressure the Israeli side to hold General Elections in all Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.
For his part, German Minister Lindner expressed his government's commitment to the principle of the Two-State Solution and their support for democracy and the elections in Palestine in general, and their support to CEC in particular.
