Polling Ends for the Second Phase of the Local Elections

The Central Elections Commission announced that voting for the Second Phase of the Local Elections ended at 7:00 pm. That excludes the previously announced centers by the CEC, where polling hours were extended.
CEC chairman Dr. Hanna Nasir, indicated in a press conference, held at the CEC’s Media Center in its headquarters in al Bireh, that the voter turnout percentage reached: 52.82% , as the total number of voters reached 377,895 in all localities out of 715,413 eligible voters.
He also emphasized that, generally speaking, the voting process ran smoothly and in an organized manner. As the CEC identified some violations and problems, which were all addressed. 
The chairman added that the CEC staff has commenced the counting and tabulation processes directly inside polling stations. The counting protocols will be accumulated in polling centers, to later publish the number of votes obtained by each nominated list in every locality.
Dr. Nasir thanked Mr. President Mahmoud Abbas for his participation in the electoral process. Emphasizing the positive message his participation conveys. 
It should be indicated that the election results for the Second Phase of the Local Elections will be announced tomorrow at the CEC’s media center in Al Bireh.
