Objections to the Nomination of Electoral Lists

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced today the mechanism for objecting to the nomination of electoral lists and their candidates which commences as of the date of publishing the preliminary register of electoral lists on April 6th..

The CEC stated that any voter, list or candidate may submit an objection or complaint to the CEC concerning violations to the legal conditions of nomination by a list or candidate. Objections should be submitted along with supporting documents of proof. Written objections may be submitted on special forms available at CEC website: www.elections.ps, during the period from 6 - 8 April, to CEC HQ in Al-Bireh, the Regional Office in Gaza or any of CEC district offices.

The CEC will review objections and complaints within three days and issue and notify its decisions, in writing, to the objectant and objectee list or candidate. CEC decisions are subject to appeal before the Elections Court within three days from notification. The Court will issue its decision on submitted appeals within seven days.

It should be indicated that the last day for withdrawal of list nominations is April 29th. The final register of electoral lists and their candidates will be published on April 30th.
