CEC Welcomes Political Factions’ Signing of Elections Code of Conduct

Thursday, March 18, 2021

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) welcomed the signing of the Code of Conduct by the political factions participating in the Palestinian elections during their meetings in Cairo, confirming their keenness to conduct all stages of the electoral process with transparency and integrity.

The CEC emphasized the importance of this Code, derived from the Elections Law, which calls for honest competition between competing lists in a manner that serves and promotes national unity, the public interest, and preserves right of citizens to choose their representatives. The Code of Conduct also requires adherence to the Elections Law (and all corresponding regulations and instructions) in order to regulate the flow of the electoral process.

CEO, Hisham Kuhail, participated in the Cairo meetings on behalf of the CEC, where he presented participants with a report detailing the progress of the preparations being undertaken for the legislative elections. Kuhail affirmed the CEC’s eagerness to ensure that the electoral process is conducted with a high level of transparency and integrity that reflects the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
