The CEC Announces the End of the Exhibition and Challenge Period

Thursday, March 4, 2021

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced today the closure of exhibition and challenge centers in all districts of the West Bank and Gaza Strip with the end of the preliminary voter registry exhibition and challenge phase which lasted for three consecutive days, in accordance with the published electoral calendar.

During this stage, the CEC received a total of 176 objections, most of which focused on correcting the personal data included in the voters' registry. The CEC will review objections until March 7th and notify relevant persons of its decisions. Citizens may appeal CEC decisions before the Election Cases Court within three days from the date of notification.

The Court adjudicates appeals and issues its final decisions within five days of appeal submission. This process will result in having a final and correct voter registry on the basis of which the upcoming legislative and presidential elections will be held.

The next electoral phase is nomination for the legislative elections which will be conducted over 12 days starting March 20 until March 31st.
