CEC Encourages the Registration of Voters with Hearing Disabilities

Sunday, February 14, 2021

The Central Elections Commission (CEC), in cooperation with the Palestinian Union for Deaf, has recruited, trained, and distributed 16 employees with hearing disabilities to electoral district offices across the West Bank to receive and aid hearing-disabled citizens during the field voter registration period lasting until Tuesday, February 16th.

The CEC emphasized that such a step is in line with its vision to integrate persons with disabilities into all stages of the electoral process, enabling them to exercise their right to participate in the 2021 Palestinian elections. Citizens with hearing disabilities are encouraged to update their information in the voter registry and register to vote at one of the CEC electoral district offices located in all governorates of the West Bank in order to guarantee their right to participate in the electoral process.

The number of registrants for the 2021 Palestinian elections reached 2.48 million citizens, constituting 88.3% of the total eligible registrants according the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).
