CEC Chairman, Hanna Nasir, met today with the Representative of the Russian Federation to the State of Palestine, Gocha Buachidze, and extended an official invitation to observe the 2021 Palestinian elections.
During their meeting at CEC Headquarters in Al-Bireh, Nasir briefed Buachidze on the efforts being undertaken to organize elections, and the procedures the CEC began implementing in preparation of the electoral process, beginning with voter registration. Nasir also emphasized the importance of international observation during the elections in order to guarantee its transparency and integrity.
Nasir addressed the potential obstacles posed by the Israeli occupation during the electoral process, calling upon the Russian Federation to facilitate the holding of elections in Jerusalem similar to the rest of areas in the West Bank Gaza Strip.
Such meetings are being held as part of CEC’s efforts to inform the official foreign ambassadors and representatives to the State of Palestine of the preparations being undertaken to organize the 2021 Palestinian elections, inviting them to observe the electoral process.
