CEC Board of Commissioners, headed by Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nasir, held a meeting today at CEC Headquarters in Al-Bireh, and through video conference with Commissioners in Gaza, to discuss the latest developments with regards to the upcoming general legislative and presidential elections.
During the meeting Dr. Nasir briefed Commissioners on the outcomes of his recent meeting with Mr. President Mahmoud Abbas, held yesterday, through which the CEC provided proposed dates for holding elections.
Dr. Nasir explained that the CEC will need 120 days to prepare for elections once a presidential decree is issued in accordance with the legal timeframe set by the General Elections Law and the public safety measures in light of the current Pandemic.
The CEC reaffirmed its full readiness to hold general elections once a presidential decree is issued.
