The organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies (ArabEMBs), in cooperation with the Independent High Electoral Commission of Tunisia organized the second general assembly meeting yesterday in Tunis.
During the meeting, Mr. Mohammad Shafiq Sarsour was elected President of the Organization for a term of two years. An executive Bureau was elected comprising of Mr. Hisham Kuhail, CEO of the Palestinian Central Elections Commission, Mr. Zhuair Abu Faris from Jordan and Mr. Hakim Belkhair from Libya.
The meeting is organized with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Venice Commission. A regional workshop on “the independence of electoral administrations’’ will be held during the period from 8-9 February 2016 as part of the event.
It should be indicated that Arab EMBs is a regional organization for elections administrations in the Arab region in which the Palestinian Elections Commission is a Co-founding member.
