The CEC has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with seven Palestinian universities in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip to implement electoral awareness activities aiming at encouraging youth participation in future elections.
The CEC has approved project proposals from seven universities: Al-Najah, Birzeit, Al-Quds, Khadoury, Al-Azhar, The Islamic University and Deir Al-Balah Technical University.
As part of an EU funded project, the CEC will provide selected universities with financial support to implement awareness activities in universities during the second semester of 2017.
The projects target university students from various academic fields such as Law, media and political science through various activities involving media productions, training workshops, electoral debates, research for the aim of encouraging their political and electoral participation.
The signing of MOUs is part of CECs continued cooperation with active social organizations and key CEC partners, especially the institutes of higher education.
It should be indicated that the CEC constantly implements electoral awareness activities with partner Civil Society Organizations, universities and schools aiming at raising electoral participation of youth in upcoming elections and raise the electoral public awareness among the various components of the Palestinian society especially youth, women, and Persons with Disabilities.
