The CEC requests the State Audit and Control Bureau to undertake audit for its work

The Chairman of the CEC, Dr. Hanna Nasir, requested the Chairman of the State Audit & Administrative Control Bureau, Counselor Iyad Tayyem, for the Bureau to commence auditing actions for CEC’s work. The request was made today during a visit of the CEC Chairman accompanied by CEO, Hisham Kuhail and Deputy CEO, Ashraf Shuaibi to the Bureau headquarters in Ramallah.. Dr. Nasir stated the request for auditing stems from CEC’s belief in enhancing the principles of integrity and transparency of its work and expressed full commitment towards facilitating the work of the control team. Dr. Nasir also stressed the importance of the control role of the Bureau over public institutions and its keenness for the soundness of the works of the audited entities. Dr. Nasir also explained the nature of CEC’s work as an administratively and financially independent institution according to the elections law. On his part, the Chairman of the Bureau welcomed CEC’s request and expressed full readiness to undertake audit actions for CEC’s work or any other relevant body. He also stressed the importance of auditing works on correcting and developing the work environment, avoiding future administrative and financial mistakes and enhancing partnership with audited entities towards building state institutions governed by the principles of good governance. Mr. Tayyem encouraged all institutions to follow the example of the CEC in this big step which reflects CEC’s keenness to work in accordance with the law to safeguard the public interest and to benefit from the Bureau expertise in this regard. Mr. Tayem has accordingly confirmed that the Bureau will undertake audit and control over CEC’s work.
