The CEC has commenced yesterday a training program aiming at building the capacities of potential 300 registration staff from among university graduates in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The activity is part of a two-year project funded by the Government of Norway.
The first two workshops were organized yesterday in the cities of Ramallah and Gaza. In his speech during the opening session in Gaza, Commissioner Yousif Awadallah stressed on the importance of continuous enhancement of the skills of electoral cadres who contribute through their work in maintaining the democratic life in Palestine and performing elections to the utmost levels of transparency and professionalism.
On his part, the Head of Gaza Regional Office, Jamil al Khalidi, explained the importance of such initiatives in creating an effective electoral cadre that will be an assist for any upcoming elections.
In the following days, the CEC will organize 11 training workshops, two days each, in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The training covers electoral systems in Palestine in comparison to electoral systems worldwide as well as the phases of the electoral process. At the end of training, participants will receive certificates of participation that will enable them to work with the Commission in future elections.
