Registration and challenge for the second complementary local elections begins

The CEC commenced today registration, exhibition and challenge period for the second complementary local elections of 2013. To this end, 57 registration centers were opened in 36 localities in the West Bank from 8:00am till 4:00 pm and will remain open until 27 March.

During this period Palestinians in the targeted localities can register if they are not included in the voters list, change their registration information or object to the registration of any voter they deem illegible.

To be an eligible registrant one has to be 17 years or above and resident for at least six months in the locality where he/she wishes to be registered in.

It should be indicated that the Cabinet has issued a decision on 12 March setting the date for the second complementary elections on 1 June 2013 in 36 localities of the west bank where elections did not take place either due to a court ruling or not qualifying for nomination or the resignation of the majority of their council members.
