The CEC meets with CSOs representatives to discuss latest updates on local elections

27 August 2011, Ramallah- Today, the CEC met with representatives of local CSOs to discuss the presidential decree on the postponement of local elections.
The CEC stressed upon the importance of local elections as constitutional obligation and explored the preparations carried out since the Cabinet’s decision calling for local elections was issued on 27 November 2011.
The CEC conducted voter registration, exhibition and challenge in the West Bank between 13-17 August  a stage that precedes nomination.
At the end of the meeting, the CEC expressed hope that the continued delay in local elections will not affect the credibility of the democratic process in Palestine.
