Today, the CEC commenced training workshops for new employees in all West Bank districts in preparation for Local Elections which will be held on July 9th.
Fifty five employees, who will be working in CEC’s district offices, will participate in trainings addressing various aspects of their work. In addition trainings will cover the techniques used in dealing with registration, observation and media forms.
The CEC will also be training registration, exhibition, and challenge supervisors as well as registration staff who will begin on 9th March updating the voters registry in the localities where Local Elections will be held.
The CEC will carry out voters registry update exercise beginning March 9th for a week. Registration centers will open in the local authorities of the population centers where elections will be held. The CEC will also send mobile registration staff to high schools and universities to register youth who are eligible to register for voting.
On February 8th the Cabinet decided Local Elections will be conducted in all Palestinian territories on July 9th, 2011.
