Presidential Decree No. 1 of 1995 on the call for elections

The President of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization,
President of the Palestinian National Authority,

Having seen the Law No. 5 of 1995 concerning the transference of powers and competences;
Having seen the Law No. 13 of 1995 concerning the elections;
I hereby promulgate the following decree:

Article 1

The call for elections: The Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Jerusalem shall be called for the general, free and direct elections to elect the President of the Palestinian National Authority and members of the Palestinian Legislative Council on Saturday, January 20, 1996.

Article 2

Polling: The process of voting for the candidates for the Presidency of the Palestinian National Authority and membership of the Palestinian Legislative Council shall be conducted on the basis of the final lists of candidates and voters.
 
Article 3

The commencement of Candidature: Candidature shall be commenced on December 14, 1995 and shall last for 9 days.

Article 4

Enforcement: The President and members of the Central Elections Commission must implement this Decree. The Decree shall enter into force upon its issuance and shall be published in the Palestinian Official Gazette.

Issued in the city of Gaza on 13/12/1995 A. D., corresponding to Rajab 20, 1416 of the Hijri.
