The CEC signs a memorandum of cooperation with the National Committee for Summer Camps

The CEC represented by its CEO Mr. Hisham Kuhail, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the National Committee for Summer Camps represented by its General Coordinator, Mr. Mousa Abu Zaid to implement the youth leaders elections in the summer camps-2007 project.

The agreement which was signed today at the CEC Headquarter in Ramallah stipulates that the CEC implement the project in 22 of the NCSC summer camps in all West Bank districts by conducting mock elections to elect a youth leader for the camp for the aim of implementing the theoretical concepts of the electoral process in a practical manner.

Mr. Kuhail stressed the importance of the project which comes in compliance with the CECzzz*zs duty to enhance the elections awareness concepts among the targeted students who fall in the age group between 12-16 years. Mr. Kuhail also added that a theoretical explanation will precede each stage of the electoral process to instill the concept of participation theoretically and practically among the participants.

On his part, Mr. Abu Zaid welcomed the signing of the agreement, stressing the importance of the summer camps in enhancing the concepts of good citizenship and participation among youth and confirmed the National committeezzz*zs commitment to make a success of the project.

Both parties stressed that the signing of this memorandum comes as a further step to enhance the mutual efforts and cooperation between them and the wish to continue cooperation in the future.

It should be indicated that the CEC published more than 50 thousand educational brochures to be distributed, in cooperation with the national Committee for Summer Camps, on all participants in the West Bank summer camps this year. The Brochure titled "Learn elections alphabet" contains a brief about all types of Palestinian elections as well as information about the importance of registration as key to elections participation.
