The CEC signs a memorandum of understanding with five Palestinian Universities

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) signed today a memorandum of understanding with five universities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip (Birzeit, Al-Najah, Hebron, Gaza and the Islamic university) as part of project’’ Training of Media Students” funded by the Government of Norway.

The project will be implemented during this semester with participation of 15 lecturers from the said universities and targeting 150 students.

The project aims at building the capacities of media students on the accurate media coverage of elections and proper usage of electoral concepts. Various media productions will be developed by students and published through various media outlets.

 It should be indicated that this project is a continuation of collaboration between the CEC and Palestinian Universities. In previous years, the CEC undertook initiatives to raise students’ awareness on democracy and elections by including an elections course as part of universities academic courses in addition to implementing various electoral awareness activities.
