The CEC announces the legal timeline for the upcoming local elections of 2011

In light of the Cabinet’s decision dated 27 July 2011 which confirms holding local council elections on the assigned date on 22 October 2011, and after receiving the final list of localities in which elections will be held, the CEC announced today the legal timeline for elections which will be held in 295 localities in the Palestinian northern districts.

According to the announced schedule, the first stage of elections, i.e. registration, exhibition and challenge will take place from 13-17 August and will be followed by nomination from 6-15 September. Elections campaigning activities will commence on 8 October until 20 October and will end 48 hours prior to polling day assigned on 22 October. The preliminary elections results will be published within 24 hours of the closure of polling centers.
