Accreditation of media representatives

Media Agencies are considered a partner in the electoral process, due to the importance of news coverage for events of such significance and interest. The CEC strives to constantly enhance its partnership with representatives of local and international media and to facilitate their coverage of electoral events. 
Therefore, the CEC provides media representatives and journalists with accreditation cards which grant them access to registration and polling centers and obtain reliable electoral information.
Local and international journalists and media representatives are invited to submit online accreditation applications as of 3 February until 24 July 2021.

Media representatives are required to:
1. Complete the online application.
2. Attach a "media coverage letter" from the media company for which the journalist works. Freelance journalists must attach a copy of the media card from the Palestinian Ministry of Information or the journalists’ syndicate membership card (250 KB).  
 3. Attach identification photo (100 KB).
4. Photocopy of applicant’s ID or passport (250 KB).
5. International journalists must attach a copy of press card issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Information (250 KB).
6. Freelance journalists should be contracted with a media outlet to cover elections and provide supporting documents.
7. The maximum number of accreditation cards for each media outlet is determined as follows:

Local radio stations 4 cards
Newspapers 16 cards
News agencies 16 cards
Media production companies In accordance with the number of channels they cover. A Photocopy of a valid company license should be provided and a letter specifying the channels the company covers.
News websites 16 cards
Local TVs 16 cards
Broadcast stations 16 cards

 

The CEC does not grant a journalist accreditation card if he/she is registered as a local observer or party agent or if he/she does not provide a proof of his/her work with a media outlet.

Receiving Your Accreditation Card 
Accreditation cards may be picked up by the journalist in-person from the place specified in the accreditation application form or by someone other than the journalist him/herself who is authorized by an official authorization letter from the media organization.

Local and international journalists are encouraged to review and adhere to the media representatives’ code of conduct during their media coverage of elections.
