The CEC wins two international Prizes

Basel Alqasem

The CEC has received two awards of recognition for outstanding achievements during the Ninth International Electoral Affairs Symposium held in the city of Cape Town in South Africa during the period from 3-5 December 2014 and attended by CEO Hisham Kuhail and Head of PR, Fareed Taamallah.

The two awards are the ‘’First Time Voter Award’’ for project’’ Election awareness at schools’’ funded by the European Commission, and the ‘’Accessibility Award’’ for the ‘’Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities’’ project funded by United Nations Development Program (UNDP), both implemented in 2014. By this, Palestine would be the first Arab country to be nominated and win these Awards.

It should be indicated that the Electoral Symposium is organized annually and attended by Election Management Bodies worldwide to discuss electoral issues and to select and grant awards to outstanding electoral projects.
