The CEC signs a funding agreement with the Government of Norway

Today, the CEC and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed a two-year agreement to fund a project ’’ Support to CEC in 2014-2016” that aims at supporting the principles of democracy and good governance in Palestine.

The agreement was signed by CEC Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nasir and Mr. Tor E. Gjerde, the Head of Norway Cooperation Office, in the amount of 1,645,000 $USD.

The agreement involves a number of projects that aim at enhancing electoral knowledge, boosting CEC’s capacities and readiness for any upcoming elections, and enhancing relationships with election stakeholders at the local, regional and international levels. The CEC will commence implementation of activities beginning of coming December which include; Voter Registry Update, Development of Registration System, comparative study on international Referendum laws, Establishment of an Electoral Knowledge Center (EKC), Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Capacity Building of Registration Staff, and Empowerment of Women Political Participation which will be implemented in partnership with UN Women.
