This week, the CEC conducted two training workshops in Ramallah and Gaza on electoral reform and gender each lasted for four days and was attended by 22 representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the West Bank and another 22 in Gaza.

CEC Commissioner, Dr. Yousif Awadallah, explained that such workshops fall within CEC’s vision to strengthen networking and relations with election stakeholders, especially when it comes to women role and their electoral rights by increasing the level of electoral awareness among CSOs on this regard. Dr. Awadallah also thanked the EU and UN Women for funding and sponsoring the implementation of this project.

At the end of training participants were granted certificates of participation. Advocate Asia Thwaib, a participant from Bethlehem, thanked CEC trainers for the valuable information they managed to deliver in such a short training and expressed eagerness to employ what she has learned in the future in supporting women and their rights to stand for elections.

It should be indicated that such training is part of UN women program ’’LEAP FOR WOMEN’’ funded by the UN Women and the EC and is part of a series of “Bridge” workshops targeting all election stakeholders.
