CEC Call for Applications for Elections Training
The Central Elections Commission (CEC) has announced the launch of a project entitled “ Strengthening Palestinian Electoral Participation’’ which is being funded by the Government of Italy through the Italian Cooperation Office. The project aims to raise the awareness of the Palestinian population on elections and to enhance the local Civil Societies Organizations (CSOs) and NGOs’ knowledge of electoral processes.
The CEC will target trainers from around thirty five local CSOs and train them on elections. The trainers in each CSO are then required to deliver a number of workshops to targeted groups of the Palestinian population. The training sessions will be funded directly by the Italian Government.
CSOs wishing to participate in the project should complete a special application form which can be obtained online from www.elections.ps or from any of the CEC’s district offices across the West Bank. In order for an organization to be eligible to participate, it should meet the following requirements:
1. Be a Palestinian organization registered with the Palestinian National Authority
2. Be working in the fields of democracy, good governance or elections and/or currently implementing or has previously implemented projects related to elections or good governance
3. Have access to various voters groups regardless of their residency, genders or ages
4. Be objective and transparent
5. Be able to provide at least two trainers to deliver training
6. Be willing and capable of working with the CEC in implementing electoral awareness projects and be fully committed to the conditions and requirements of the project phases as set in the action plan
Complete applications should be submitted from 1 July 2010 until 12 July 2010, either electronically to [email protected] or by hand to the CEC’s headquarters in Ramallah or any of the CEC’s district offices.
Only completed applications which meet the above requirements will be accepted. The CEC will contact only selected CSOs.
