The CEC Conducts training workshop for political parties representatives

6 May, Ramallah -  With the approach of the legal period of nomination for the upcoming Local Elections, the Central Elections Commission (CEC) conducted a training workshop for the representatives of political parties on the conditions and procedures for nomination.

The one-day workshop gathered more than one hundred participant  from all West Bank districts, including Jerusalem, who represent most of Palestinian political factions.

The workshop discussed the CEC’s preparations for Local Elections since it was called for until the nomination phase which will commence on 1 June and will last for ten days.

The workshop addressed various electoral issues such as the nomination conditions, the legal requirements for the registration of lists, electoral campaigning regulations, woman representation in the lists according to the quota system and the formation of lists in the localities which adopt the Islamic and Christian quota.

According to the legal timetable for local elections, the preliminary register of electoral lists will be published  at the CEC district offices on Saturday, 12 June for three days.
