The CEC published the final report on the 2007 youth leadership elections in the summer campszzz*z project. The report includes general information about the project which was implemented in cooperation with the National Committee for Summer Camp such as the theoretical and practical aspects of the project, the results of the poll which was distributed to participants, the obstacles encountered during the implementation phase as well as a number of recommendations for the future.
In general, the report referde to the number of summer camps which were included in the project which reached twenty one. The total number of registrants reached 1,294 students, 999 of which voted (77.2%). The report also indicated that the number of candidates was 198 in all camps. The report also illustrated that the project was implemented over a period of seventy five days commencing June 4 until August 20, 2007.
The report illustrated the three phases of the project which are; planning, implementation and finally, evaluation. In the first phase, the CEC set up the initial schedules and drew the projectzzz*zs broad lines and prepared the necessary forms and materials. In the second phase, 80-90% of the project was implemented as scheduled. The report also illustrated that the evaluation phase included reviewing the reports, holding of evolutionary meetings and issuing the final report.
The report also indicated that the CEC finalized preparing the results of the poll which was distributed to participants before and after the activity. The results demonstrated a noticeable increase in the number of correct answers after the activity compared to those preceded the project. The results also demonstrated that youth between (12-16) years lean more towards practical activities instead of theoretical ones.
As for the obstacles faced by the project, the report summarized some of them such as the lack of conformity between the age categories in some summer camps and the CEC target group. Moreover, the delay in opening some of the summer camps until the beginning of August caused problems in setting up a timeline for implementation.
Finally, the report presented recommendations for the future, most important of which is the importance of repeating the experience and developing the project in the future. Also, to extend the implementation of the project to the schools in coordination with the Ministry of Education.
