Today, in the presence of Dr. Rami Hamdullah, the Secretary General of the CEC, and the Head of Al-Najah National University, the CEC signed a memorandum of understanding with the universityzzz*zs Center for Democracy and Human Rights.
The memorandum aims at establishing a common work strategy and a base of individuals and institutions that are able to enhance the communityzzz*zs awareness of elections related issues. The memorandum was signed in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.

The memorandum which was signed by the CECzzz*zs Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Mr. Hisham Kuhail and the Coordinator of the Democracy Center, Mr. Samir Aqrooq stressed that the mutual work strategy should cover the population centers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip through mutual cooperation between the two sides in preparing training materials and courses regarding the Palestinian electoral laws, the Palestinian elections experience (presidential, legislative and local) and the legal provisions pertaining to election campaigning , polling and counting procedures.
Dr. Hamdullah expressed his hope that this memorandum would be a start for mutual cooperation between the university and the CEC in the aim of boosting the democratic process in Palestine and establishing a civic society on the basis of cooperation and participation.
On his part, Mr. Kuhail expressed the CECzzz*zs wish to spread elections education in the Palestinian Society through cooperation with all official and National organizations and by helping to create a group of individuals and institutions that are able to strengthen the concepts of democratic practices and elections issues.
On the other hand, Mr. Aqrooq indicated that this memorandum comes in compliance with the aims of the center in spreading awareness regarding democracy and elections. He also welcomed mutual cooperation with the CEC and stressed at the same time on the centerzzz*zs commitment to execute the memorandum and make a success of this project.
It should be indicated that the CEC, as part of its duties, is currently implementing a number of projects in the aim of spreading elections education among the youth generation in particular.
