The voters registry update process ends in the updating centers but continues in the electoral districts offices

Thursday, April 5, 2007

Last Sunday, the CEC announced the end of the voters registry update process in the 574 updating centers. The total number of registrants during this period reached 61,953 in all Palestinian districts (38,681 in the West Bank and 23,272 in Gaza Strip). [More Details]

The voterszzz*z registry update process commenced on 28 March, 2007 for a period of five days in the aim of maintaining an accurate and up-to date registry that will serve all electoral processes. This annual procedure targeted Palestinians who didn’t register before or those born in 1989 or before. Palestinians who work or live in places far from their place of residence were able to register through remote office registration.

On the other hand, the CEC indicated that registration is still possible in the 16 electoral districts offices from Sunday through Thursday (8: 00 am-4:00 pm). The registration process is carried out in these offices in a manner similar to that in the registry update centers.

Addresses of the 16 electoral districts offices may be obtained by calling the CEC toll-free line 1800 300 400 or visiting our website.

On this occasion, the CEC would like to thank every one who contributed to the success of the updating process whether by facilitating the work of the CEC staff or by participating in the process especially political parties and the observation bodies who submitted observation applications to the CEC.
