The CEC arranges a number of meetings with Observation, Partisan and Civil society Organizations

The CEC conducted a number of meetings with civil society organizations, local observation and partisan entities accredited with the CEC to illustrate the importance of the voterszzz*z registry update process which the CEC intends to conduct during the period 28/3-1/4/2007.

In Hebron electoral district, a number of meetings were arranged with some of the partisan entities in the city as well as representatives of local observation bodies to explain the purpose of the updating process.

Tulkarem electoral district arranged a meeting with a number of civil society organizations and youth clubs in the district to illustrate the target group of the updating process and the importance of registering voters born in 1989 or before.

In Bethlehem district, a meeting was conducted with a number of active organizations in order to find ways of cooperation with the CEC to make success of the updating process.

Meetings with local observers and organizations were also arranged in Nablus district in order to explain the updating process procedures and the educational campaign the CEC intends to conduct before the commencement of the process.

Salfit electoral district also met with representatives of political parties in the city. The meeting focused on the role of the political parties in making success of the updating process by encouraging people to register themselves or check their information. The Meeting also stressed on the importance of renewing the accreditation of the political parties agents with the CEC during the assigned period. The CEC addressed a written letter to representatives of local observation bodies urging them to submit to the CEC accreditation applications for their observers and to issue them accreditation cards that will enable them to enter the updating centers.

In the meetings, the CEC illustrated the procedures of the updating process, the target group and the importance of urging people to participate in the updating process in order to check their information and correct any mistakes if found. The meeting also concentrated on the on the youth group who were born in 1989 or before who are now able to register themselves in this drive. The meetings also discussed the required registration documents, the registration by proxy for relatives and non relatives as well as the remote registration for people who work or live away from their residency.

 The meetings witnessed a noticeable participation from the audience who, in their turn, confirmed the importance of updating the voters list and expressed their willingness to effectively interact with the process.
