The CEC expresses it discontent over not receiving a response from the Ministry of Education regarding the use of the public schools as registry update centers

Tuesday, March 6, 2007

The CEC Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nassir and in the presence of the CEO, Mr. Hisham Kuhail met with representatives of the accredited political parties at the CEC Headquarters in Ramallah and through video conference with Gaza.

Through the meeting, Dr. Nassir expressed his discontent over not receiving a response from the Ministry of Education on the letters addressed by the CEC regarding the use of the public schools as centers for the voters registry update. The CEC addressed four letters to the Ministry of Education on this regard and didn’t receive a response until now.

On their part, the political parties representatives confirmed their support to the CECzzz*zs work and the importance of updating the voters list as soon as possible.

The CEC has previously decided to update the voters list during March ,2007 and prepared all the necessary procedures to achieve this task.

Dr. Nassir stated that the updating process is not related to any political activity in the Palestinian arena and that it’s a periodical process the CEC conducts  annually in order to maintain an accurate and comprehensive voters list by allowing all Palestinians to register them selves or correct their personal information.

On behalf of the CEC, Dr. Nassir expressed his apology to all Palestinian citizens for the delay of the updating process and would like to indicate that this delay comes for reasons beyond the CECzzz*zs capacity and stresses the importance of solving this issue as soon as possible.
