The CEC participates In the International Conference on the Parliamentary Dimension of Election Observation

The CEC received an invitation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to take part in the International Conference on "The Parliamentary Dimension of Election Observation" which will be he held in Strasbourg-France on 15 and 16 February 2007.

The conference aims at strengthening the parliamentary dimension of election observation as well as to providing a broader global outlook by comparing experiences and strengthening cooperation with bodies outside the Council of Europe geographical area.

The CEC decided to contribute to this conference through its CEO, Mr. Hisham Kuhail who will deliver a statement regarding the CECzzz*zs experience in organizing the Palestinian Presidential and Legislative Elections and the interaction with local and international observers during the elections.

Election observation is a principle stipulated in the Palestinian Elections Law. The CEC is body entitled to accredit and facilitate the work of local and international observers .The CEC accredited local and international observation bodies before the commencement of the electoral process and issued them accreditation cards that enable them to enter polling centers.

Election observation is defined as monitoring the conduct of the electoral process without interference in the process itself and issuing of reports evaluating the electoral process conduct based on the information gathered by the accredited observers.

In addition to the CEC, several elections bodies from around the world will participate in this conference such as the Russian CEC and Mexico Federal Electoral Institute (IFE).
