Today, a memorandum of understanding detailing Turkish assistance to the CEC was signed by the CEC Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nasir and the Turkish Consul General Ambassador Dr. Ali Irjan Ozer. The memorandum details the type of support that Turkey will be providing to the CEC to equip its media centers in Ramallah and Gaza.
The centers will be equipped with the necessary facilities and services for the media’s coverage of the second PLC elections scheduled for 25 January, 2006.
The Turkish Republic has sent a delegation of observers to monitor the legislative elections, 17 of whom have been chosen from among the most outstanding academics and government officials in Turkey.
Dr. Ozer expressed his country’s support for the building of a democratic Palestinian state and stated that he hoped that the elections would be free and fair.
