Presidential decree concerning the amendment of candidacy date for PLC elections

Presidential Decree
No. ( ) of 2005
On the Commencement of Candidacy for PLC Elections


President of the PLO Executive Committee
President of the Palestinian National Authority
 
Having reviewed:
- The Amended Basic Law of 2003 and its amendments
- The General Elections' Law No 9 of 2005 concerning the elections and, based upon the powers bestowed upon me and the public interest,
 

I hereby promulgate the following decree:


 Article (1)

The legislative elections shall be held in Jerusalem and all Palestinian governorates on Wednesday, 25/01/2006.


Article (2)

Candidature for the PLC membership shall commence on Saturday, 3/12/2005 and shall last for 12 days. Political parties and movements or those who are not affiliated to a political party or movement shall prepare their official electoral lists and nominate their candidates for the legislative elections and submit them to the competent authorities during that period.

Article (3)

Electoral campaigns shall commence on Tuesday, 3/1/2006 and shall end on Monday night, 23/1/2006.

Article (4)
It shall be considered void and null whatever goes against the provisions of this decree.


Article (5)

All competent authorities, each within its own jurisdiction, shall implement this Decree. The Decree shall enter into force upon its issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
