The Central Elections Commission (CEC) in partnership with the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) conducted two workshops titled “Security Measures during Electoral Processes”, which discussed securing the elections throughout its stages, based on the final reports and recommendations that came out after the last local elections.
Ninety (90) participants from the staff CEC and PCP’s central operations department, from all governorates of the West Bank, discussed over the course of four days, mechanisms of cooperation and communication between both parties in order to guarantee the flow of the electoral processes in secured manner. Moreover, they explored the code of conduct for security forces, other stakeholders and partners during elections.
Participants recommended and focused on the importance of enhancing cooperation among all partners to the electoral process in a manner that leads to organizing and coordinating efforts in order to achieve a common goal; holding safe and secured elections. Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of devising mechanisms for cooperation between the CEC and PCP with regards to facing and combating electoral crimes and cybercrimes.
It is worth mentioning that this workshops is part of the project “Development of a Central Operations Room” funded by the European Union (EU), aiming to exchange experiences between the CEC and PCP in order to enhance the bilateral relations prior to, during and after electoral events.
The partnership between the CEC and PCP aims to guarantee the safe and secured flow of electoral processes, as the police are mandated by law and are responsible for securing electoral processes throughout their stages.
