The CEC and Ministry of Education and Higher Education Launch the “Electoral Awareness at Schools 2024” Project

Thursday, October 10, 2024

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education launched the electoral awareness project at schools titled “Elections in My School 2024”.

Funded by the European Union (EU), one hundred (100) public and private schools throughout the governorates of the West Bank started the implementation of the first class of the project, which is implemented over six (6) classes, crowned with carrying out an electoral process simulating the elections at a national level, funded by the European Union (EU).

This was preceded with the CEC providing training to 170 teachers (both females and males) in the different governorates, who will oversee the students as they carry out the electoral simulation. The number of students participating in the simulations reaches approximately 11,000 students (both females and males) in all schools.

The project aims to enhance electoral culture among students of the ninth grade, through carrying out mock elections simulating the real electoral processes.

It is worth noting that the CEC has previously implemented 10 versions of this project since 2007, where tens of thousands of students have benefited from the project in all governorates of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with some activities dedicated to the schools for children with disabilities.
