The Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC), Dr. Rami Hamdallah received today, the Ambassador of the Republic of Venezuela to the State of Palestine, H.E. Maher Taha, at CEC’s HQ in Al-Bireh, in the presence of CEC’s CEO, Ashraf Al-Shuaibi.
Dr. Hamdallah welcomed H.E. Ambassador Taha, noting the strong friendship links between Palestine and Venezuela, which were recently reflected in the Venezuelan President’s decision; Nicolas Maduro, to upgrade the level of diplomatic representation in Palestine from a Representative Office to an Embassy. Moreover, Dr. Hamdallah emphasized the importance of consolidating cooperation, especially in the areas of democracy and elections.
In return, H.E. Ambassador Taha handed the CEC’s Chairman an official invitation to observe the presidential elections in Venezuela, planned for July 28, 2024.
It is worth mentioning that the CEC is keen on accepting the invitations it receives for observing electoral processes of all countries, with the aim of studying the experiences of other peoples to enhance its work.
