The Central Elections Commission (CEC) held a central training for the employees of the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program for People with Disabilities (PWD) in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The 2-day training was held simultaneously in Al-Bireh and Gaza, with more than 30 participants, both males and females. It aimed at raising the participants’ awareness on the issues of political participation and democracy, as well as familiarizing them with the elections and the specific procedures of each of the phases of the Electoral Process.
As an outcome of this training, the participants will organize decentralized educational sessions targeting PWD in all West Bank and Gaza Strip governorates. Those sessions aim to raise the awareness of PWD about their political rights, and familiarize them with the special procedures taken by the CEC to facilitate their participation in the Electoral Process.
It is noteworthy that this training is part of the EU funded project “Enhancing Political and Electoral Participation of PWD”, which supports the CEC’s approach towards adjusting its procedures, programs, and district offices in a way that fully integrates PWD in all the commission’s plans and activities.
