The Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC), Dr. Hanna Nasir, delivered yesterday evening, the 2021 Local Elections Report, to President Mahmoud Abbas. The report documents all the information and details related to the Electoral Process and its results.
During their meeting in the Presidential Office in Ramallah, Dr. Nasir briefed the President on the details of the elections of the local bodies, which took place in two phases, and in which more than 58% of citizens with the right to vote participated.
CEC Chairman referred to the challenges that faced the commission in its work, starting with the health conditions due to the spread of the coronavirus, in addition to the need of introducing amendments to the Electoral Law.
Dr. Nasir affirmed the commission’s readiness to implement any presidential decree related to holding the General Elections in Palestine with transparency and integrity, in order to establish democracy as a primary option for the transfer of power.
In his turn, the President praised the efforts of the CEC to hold the local elections, in an atmosphere of democracy and transparency in accordance with the highest international standards.
