End of Voter Registration, Exhibition and Challenge for the (Second Phase) of the Local Elections

The Central Elections Commission announced today, Wednesday; the end of the Registration Exhibition and Challenge period for the (Second Phase) of the Local Elections. Which launched last Saturday.

Registration Exhibition and Challenge Centers closed their doors in all districts of the West Bank, coinciding with the shutdown of online registration through the CEC’s website as well, according to the previously announced legal calendar and timeframes.

The CEC received 25 complaints; objections to challenge the registration of others and requesting corrections to personal data, during the five days intended for doing so. More than 11 thousand new eligible voters registered in all districts. Accordingly, the total number of registered voters reached 2.6 M Representing 93% of eligible voters.

Throughout the upcoming days, the CEC will process the registered data; by removing the deceased, and duplicate registrations, in preparation for the issuance of the final Voter’s Registry which will include all registrants who will be 18 years of age or older on Polling day. Accordingly, the Nomination and Polling phases will take place for the Local Elections.

The CEC will examine, until next Monday; all the objections it received about the preliminary Voter’s Registry. Subsequently, the CEC’s decisions may be appealed before the elections court from 17-23/01/2022. The court will adjudicate and issue its final decision on the objections before Sunday 30/01/2022.

It is worthy of mentioning, the Nomination period will launch on Tuesday 08/02/2022 and will last for 10 days. Ending on Thursday evening 17/02/2022.
