CEC endorses Final Elections Results for the 2021 Local Elections

Sunday, December 26, 2021

The CEC announced today (Sunday) its endorsement of the final Elections results happening on 11/12/2021 for the (First Phase) of the 2021 Local Elections. The latter came after the legal period of objections ended before the Elections court.

The Elections court received ten objections to the preliminary published results. Eight of them were dismissed, and two accepted. The Courts rulings on the accepted objections resulted in the recounting of ballots in the locality of Deir Istiya in the district of Salfit, as well as in one polling station in the locality of Az Zawiya in Salfit. CEC staff have done so yesterday (Saturday) with the presence of candidates and observers. The previously announced results of the Elections did not change. Accordingly, they have become final and irrefutable.

The final official Elections results were submitted to the Ministry of Local Government along with winning certificates for the lists and candidates in the 153 localities in which local Elections were held. The CEC also delivered winning certificates for 162 localities who won by acclamation.

It is worthy of mentioning that the Elections happening on 11/12/2021 did not take place in 61 localities. The CEC has referred their names to the Cabinet, in order for a decision to be made about the state of their local councils. Knowing that polling for the (Second Phase) of the Local elections is scheduled for 26 March 2021.
