The Central Elections Commission (CEC), through its headquarters in Al-Bireh, and Regional Office in Gaza, will begin receiving nomination applications for the 2021 legislative elections on Saturday, March 20th, lasting for a period of 12 days until the evening of Wednesday, March 31st, according to the following procedures:
- Nomination applications may be received as of Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at 8:00 AM. Applications will be ordered based on precedence, as applications will receive a serial number based on the date and time of submission. The electoral list coordinator (authorized person) is the only authorized individual permitted to submit the nomination application.
- In the event of more than one list coordinator (authorized person) arriving at the same time to the CEC headquarters in Al-Bireh, or the Regional Office in Gaza, in order to submit their list nomination applications, or in the event that the order of their arrivals is unknown, the names of the lists will be drawn to identify the order of each list. The names of the lists will appear on the ballot based on its designated serial number and the precedence of the application’s submission.
- When submitting the nomination application, the CEC will perform a preliminary inspection to ensure that the list applications, candidate applications, and the basic required enclosures are complete. The list coordinator (authorized person) will receive a notification that the nomination application and its enclosures have been received.
- In the event of application data or enclosures contain errors or deficiencies or are incomplete, the application will be returned to the list coordinator (authorized person) for completion. The duly completed application will then be accepted, but it will lose its submission precedence.
- The CEC will examine submitted applications and enclosures within five days to ensure that they meet the legal conditions (requirements), and issue a decision to accept or reject the application. Lists will be officially informed of the decision by the CEC.
- In the event of any errors in the nomination application warranting correction, the CEC will address an official letter to the list coordinator (authorized person). Such letter will provide the list with the opportunity to correct its status within the period identified in the letter (during the nomination period), which will end on the evening of Wednesday, March 31st, 2021. No additional application modifications will be accepted after this time.
Additionally, nomination application information as well as applications and enclosures may be acquired from the CEC HQ in Al-Bireh, the Regional Office in Gaza, or at the electoral offices in all districts, in addition to the CEC website at (www.elections.ps).
