Clarification on the Certificate of Non-Conviction

Tuesday, March 16, 2021

The Ministry of Telecom and Information Technology (MTIT) issued a press release regarding the provision of Non-Conviction Certificates to election candidates – a new service offered by Palestinian post offices.

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) appreciates the Ministry’s eagerness to provide citizens with services that will aid in ensuring a successful electoral process. However, the CEC emphasizes that the enclosures for nomination applications do not require the provision of a Non-Conviction Certificate. The CEC will verify that electoral list candidates have met this requirement through its own procedural process.

The CEC invites all interested individuals to review the nomination conditions, and to obtain nomination applications along with the necessary enclosures from either one of the CEC offices located throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, or by visiting its official website at (www.elections.ps).
