The CEC Meets with Political Factions in Ramallah

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) held a meeting today in Ramallah with Secretaries-General of factions and representatives of political parties. CEC Chairman Dr. Hanna Nasir, informed the factions’ representatives of the legal periods for the 2021 general elections (legislative and presidential) and the arrangements the Commission will hold during the current and upcoming period as part of elections preparations.

Dr. Nasir stated that the first stage of voter registration will officially commence on 10 February, and will continue for five days. He added that online voter registration is currently available through CEC’s website.

Dr. Nasir also explained that these meetings held in the West Bank today, which are also scheduled to be held in the Gaza Strip, come as part of the Commission’s responsibility to enhance the participation of all political factions and parties in the elections and consider their remarks and opinions concerning the electoral process. These are crucial strides for the success of the democratic process and to secure the widest participation in the West Bank – including Jerusalem- and the Gaza Strip alike.

On their part, participants stressed the importance of making a success of the electoral process and supporting CEC’s efforts and procedures which ensures the fairness and integrity of elections.
