Registration for the upcoming local elections is now open

August 13, Ramallah: The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced today the commencement of voter registration, exhibition and challenge phase which will last till Wednesday, August 17 in preparation for the u[coming local council elections assigned on 22 October.
The total number of registrants as stated by CEO. Mr. Hisham Kuhail, currently stands for 907 thousand voters representing 82% of the eligible voters in the localities where elections will be conducted. Mr. Kuhail explained that elections will be held in 295 localities of the West Bank including Jerusalem of which are 93 municipal councils, 12 local councils, 183 village councils and 7 project committees.
During this period 454 registration staff will be recruited in the registration centers which will be open to public from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.
The registration exercise is an integral part of the electoral process to reach a comprehensive and accurate voter’s registry that forms the basis for a free and fair elections.

The CEC aims at registering unregistered voters and enabling those who are already registered from updating their data and object to the registration of other voters.
