The CEC meets with the EWG

The CEC held a meeting today with the Election Working Group (EWG) at CEC premises in Al-Bireh.

The CEC Chairman, Dr. Hanna Nasir, discussed the latest developments in light of the Cabinet’s decision to hold the 2017 Local Councils Elections on 13 May, explaining elections will be conducted in accordance with Local Councils Elections Law No. 10 of 2005 and the proportional representation system (Lists).

Dr. Nasir also discussed the outcome of the latest CEC’s visit to Gaza where it was clear that holding of elections in the strip won’t be possible at this stage, confirming also that the CEC is technically ready to hold the upcoming elections and will commence registration of voters as of 8 March in all localities of the West Bank. 

On their part, members of the EWG expressed their support and confidence in CEC’s work and the efforts exerted to conduct elections.
