Statement by the CEC on the postponement of the Supreme Court elections case
Following the resolution of the Supreme Court today to postpone reviewing the local elections case raised before it until 3 October 2016, the CEC announces its suspension of all election activities until a final resolution is reached by the Court.
Therefore, the CEC announces that the legal elections entitlements according to the published legal elections timeline are no longer valid. Thus, the date of elections specified by the Cabinet on 8 October 2016 is no longer applicable.
