The CEC announces its readiness for conducting Local Elections

The CEC welcomes the Cabinet’s decision which was issued today assigning the date for the upcoming Local Elections on October 8th, 2016.

In this context, the CEC confirms its technical readiness to hold elections on the assigned date and in accordance with the legal periods stated in Local Council Elections Law No. 10 of 2005.

The CEC will soon publish the legal timeline for Local Elections according to law to enable citizens, political parties and CSOs to commence the necessary technical preparations for the electoral process.

It should be indicated that last local elections were held four years ago in West Bank and thus are due according to law. The CEC maintains hope for local elections to be held in all localities of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
