The CEC approves the local complementary election results
Today the CEC announced that the preliminary results for the latest local elections held on 22 December 2012 which were published earlier are now being final and official with the end of the legal period for challenges. It should be indicated that the court received only one appeal from a list in Turmosaya village in Ramallah which was rejected this afternoon.
The CEC issued today winning certificates for all localities which participated in the latest complementary elections. Similar certificates were handed earlier to the Ministry of Local Governance for the localities won by acclamation. By this, the CEC have completed local elections round for 2012 in 319 localities across the West Bank.
It should be indicated that 35 localities did not have elections, 15 of which (Dora and the surrounding villages) are awaiting a court decision on this regard and the remaining localities had no list nominated during the nomination period. The number of voters in the remaining localities are 46 thousand voters representing 4.8% of the total number of eligible voters in the West Bank.
