CEC Continues Receiving Objections to Electoral Lists and Candidates

Content Manager

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) will continue to receive objections to the names of electoral lists and candidates nominated for the upcoming 2021 Legislative Council elections at all of its headquarters and offices in the West Bank and Gaza Strip until 4pm on Thursday. The CEC has issued decisions on the four objections received until yesterday evening.
The CEC coordinated with relevant authorities in the Gaza Strip to ensure that its offices will continue to remain open despite the current COVID-19 lockdown in order to continue receiving objection applications while adhering to the necessary public health measures.
The CEC reaffirmed that every voter, list, or candidate has the right to submit an objection or complaint concerning any list or candidate believed to have violated the nomination conditions by providing supporting evidence along with their claim using the CEC’s official forms in accordance with its procedures.
The CEC will review objections and complaints within a maximum period of three days, issue its official decision in writing, and notify objectants and objectees. Those who would like to appeal their decision before the Elections Court may do so within three days of the date of notification, and the Court shall adjudicate submitted appeals within seven days. The Court’s ruling shall be final and may not be appealed after this time.
